Dr. John Swaine & Associates Ltd. is an experienced clinical practice that
provides a wide range of helping services to the public. As a private alternative
to the public system, we assess and treat the functional, emotional and behavioural
difficulties of young people and adults.
Dr. John Swaine directs the service. He is a clinical psychologist registered with
the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology and the Canadian Register of Health Services
Providers in Psychology. He has more than thirty years of experience working with
children, teens, young adults and families as a clinician, lecturer, supervisor and
consultant. Dr. Swaine also teaches as an Assistant Professor (part-time) for
the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. programme in the Department of Psychology at
Dalhousie University in Halifax and is a member of the Nova Scotia Board of
Examiners in Psychology.
Our Associates are mental health professionals who have met rigorous standards of
clinical training, supervision and examination so that they can provide experienced,
professional helping services to their clients. They are registered members of their
professional organizations and have clear Codes of Ethics which they are required to follow.
They are also screened by the police and the child abuse registry for criminal
or abusive backgrounds.
